We did a little shopping!

Sarah's cupcake shop!

Sarah showed us this amazing shop- the cakes were pieces of artwork.  Luckily it was shut so we were not tempted to buy!

Cafe view- wow wow wow!

Scotland is full of the most amazing cafes that have stunning views- it is hard to select a place to eat!!!

Inside the Castle Cafe- check out the food!

And another scotsman playing the bagpipes inside the castle

This one was not breathing!!!

Inside the Castle

Approaching the Castle of Edinburgh!

Allan was excited!!

Ohhhhh a Scotsman playing the bagpipes

On our way to the castle this man was bellowing out Amazing Grace on the bagpipes- so magical to listen to!

Edinburgh Castle- in the background!

On our way to breakfast on our second day in Scotland before heading up to visit the castle.  Sunny but chilly.  They say in Scotland if you don't like the weather just wait 10 minutes.  It is so true- the weather is freezing one minute, hailing the next and then the sun comes out.  A piece of hail hit me in the eye much to my shock- it snuck in behind my glasses even!!!

Scottish Thistle- this is a painting in our hotel lobby!

St Giles - Scotland

Another fantastic cathedral- the stained glass windows in here were beautiful.  I cannot imagine what it must be like to go to a service here.

Sir Walter Scott memorial- this is looking up at the spire!

This building is so pretty!

Scotland in the heart of the city!

Straight to the Royal Mile

This is a road that takes you from the Edinburgh Castle at the top of the road right down one mile of picturesque, cobblestoned streets past the magnificence of St Giles Cathedral.

Scotland you are so beautiful!

Our eyes nearly popped out of our heads when we got off the train in Scotland.  Historic buildings surround you - so amazing!

Travelling from London to Scotland

Here I am with Sarah, my niece travelling on the train to Scotland- it took nearly 5 hours from London.  We travelled first class which was lovely as we had lots of space and access to the buffet car all the way!

Covent Garden- a highlight for sure!

This is a must for anyone visitng London.  The market is just lovely.  We ate in the courtyard with a quartet of violinists entertaining us- you will all share in the music as I bought the CD- they were so much fun and the atmosphere was electric!

Visit to Hamleys- the toy store of all toy stores!

This place is so amazing- a 'come alive' toyshop.  Kids everywhere and stands displaying and demonstrating the toys.  Child heaven I think!

Outside the Ritz in London

Before leaving home- what a house to stay in !!!

Are we lucky or what- this is the most beautiful house I have every been priveleged enough to stay in.  Our bedroom is like somehting straight out of Laura Ashley- wallpaper and curtains match and are covered in lilac.  The white window sashes frame the most ama\ing garden outside.  It is pure joy to draw the curtains in the morning!!!

Off for a day on the red bus in London- it is cold but sunny!

What a fantastic day!!!

Buckingham Palace - and the Queen was home

When the flag is up the Queen is in residence- just knowing she was inside was exciting.  Allan all but got his head stuck between the bars of the palace getting this shot!

Distant view of the Diana Memorial fountain

Here is the fountain for Diana

Now this was quite amazing- the idea is that you put your hand or feet into the water to remember Diana- there are little bubbling fountains all along the ring of the fountain.

Diana Memorial Fountain- now this was not what I expected

Kensington- just so beautiful- now i could live here
